Senior police officer, Terry Bradley, has said that security comes with a cost.
Inspector Bradley told the MBC Television programme – Police Insight that it can be very expensive to put adequate security measures at schools and institutions.
He asserted that in addition to the cost factor, there was the matter of inconvenience.
“Some of us ask for security measures but when it inconveniences us, when it prevents us from gaining access to certain areas, we complain,” Bradley noted.
He said it must be borne in mind that with increased security comes inconvenience.
The senior police official explained that not only schools, but other institutions face security challenges – including law enforcement.
Monday evening’s Police Insight discussed the issue of safety and security at schools.
The discussion came against the backdrop of a spate of break-ins at institutions of learning on the Island.
