CCSS provides relief to fire victim

Staff and students of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) on Friday, December 9, 2016, presented a gift of clothing, food and cash to a La Clery fire victim.

Tara Joseph works in the CCSS canteen.

In the early hours of the morning of  Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016, Joseph, her three children and her sister were left homeless when a fire of unknown origin destroyed their home at Nicklet Hill, La Clery.

The occupants said they were fortunate to escape with their lives given the swiftness with which the fire spread.

Neighbours who left their houses to investigate when an alarm was raised at about 1:00 a.m. could do little but watch the fire eat up the house, belching thick smoke into the early morning sky.
