Trinidad Express:-Trinidadians are no longer cooking food, even on a Sunday, Marlene McDonald, chairman of the Joint Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, lamented yesterday.
She was addressing the issue of nutrition and spoke of the number of fast food outlets the country had.
“I have noted that people don’t cook again in this country. On Sundays when I am out, every food store…all around, filled. Even my own favourite spot, if I don’t get there by one o’clock, food done!” said McDonald.
“There is a particular store that has a piece of chicken, fries, a biscuit and a soft drink for $20. Is that healthy for our children?” she asked, adding what was being done to curb childhood obesity.
