Martinique: Woman jumps from airport tower

A woman air traffic controller jumped on Tuesday morning from the airport control tower at Lamentin.

The incident occurred at around 6:20 am.

According to Martinique 1 Ere, the 42 year old unnamed woman was rushed to hospital.

When the firefighters arrived, she was conscious and had fractures to both ankles and pelvis.

She also had head trauma and multiple fractures to the rest of the body, it was reported.

The incident is being treated as a suspected suicide attempt, as the woman is said to have been going through personal difficulties and was suffering from depression.

Officials have been quoted as saying that the incident will have no impact on air traffic

An investigation is currently underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
