According to Martinique 1 ere, the incident occurred  at around 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the child’s home.
The child was rushed to hospital and was due to undergo surgery, it was reported.
The Amstaff is described as  a medium-sized, short-coated American dog breed,  one of several breeds commonly known as pit bulls.
It is considered dangerous and is classified as such in France.

In addition, on public roads the dog must be muzzled and kept  on a leash.
