Chastanet: Saint Lucia is broke!

Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has said that Saint Lucia is broke.

“We have seen for ourselves that the country is broke. How do I know that?  When  the fact  is  that you are only spending a million dollars on road rehabilitation, on maintenance, a million dollars on maintaining hospitals; a million dollars on training in the civil service- so you have over 12,000 employees, just imagine that , and you are spending a million dollars a year on training them,” Chastanet said.

He declared that this tells him that Saint Lucia is in trouble.

“The fact is that we continue to run a deficit,” Chastanet asserted, adding that there was need to change around the country’s fortunes, ensuring that money is invested in better areas.

He told reporters on Monday that he is convinced that the strategy being pursued by his administration is the right strategy.

The Prime Minister said he is very encouraged by the number of foreign investors as well as local investors who are willing to ‘stand up’ now and ‘make things happen.’

He disclosed that some ‘big meetings’ are planned for this week regarding the $US 2.6 billion Desert Star Holdings Limited (DSH) project in the South of Saint Lucia.

“We have been finalizing the deals and the terms with several other investments in the South,” Chastanet said.

He explained that the government continues to pursue a partner for the airport project and financing for the redevelopment of Castries.

According to Chastanet, the government had some very good meetings on the redevelopment and he is pleased with the direction in which it is heading.

“We are very much on pace with what we want to achieve,” the Prime Minister said.

He told reporters that he is more convinced every day that the strategy of his administration is the right one.

So sorry to disappoint you but chimps like myself have been knowing things for years. It may surprise you to know that a variety of chimp referred to as the Moor went into and conquered Spain bringing with it the first University to Europe at a time when 99% of its people were illiterate. The advances in Science and Agriculture brought by those chimps provided the foundation for Spain’s colonization of South and Central America. The Spanish eventually drove the Moors away keeping the tonnes of gold and silver brought back from its colonies. Needless to say, all of it was spent on chattel. Today, Spain is the one of poorest countries in Europe, while being led by Caucasians throughout.
Perhaps after you’re done sucking the minister’s penis, you can use your time together to convince him and the Spanish government that he is the best white man for the job. Before you leave though ask him to teach Calvin when to use a comma. His reply didn’t need one after “nice one,” as there is no dependent or independent clause following.

Well said Dr.Bonobo. wikipedia has served you well. Don’t forget the part where Moors are black Muslims, which back then makes them Arab.

One could conclude that the extended occupation of southern Spain and the subsequent race mixing that ensued caused the Iberian gene to become severely diminished. I call this the chimp-ification process.

It may be hard for you to process but you learned the white man’s English and live in his world. So why deny that it would take a white man to fix your problems. Chimps had a good run as kings and rulers ages ago. Now it is the white man’s turn.

May I say something here please , I’m coming to live on your beautiful island , I’m not rich by no means I was a working class man , and as I see all the remarks about this I truly hear passion in most words, and sounds to me a true change is in order . This is a feee country govern for the people of Saint Lucia , is that what is wanted? If yes what way is there legally to put the people in government that will work for the betterment of the Majority , is color a issue in Saint Lucia ? I hope not , because I was raised not to judge the color or race of a person but judge on the persons integrity period . So if majority of Saint Lucia is black and you as the people truly believe whites aren’t working for the needs of the majority , then vote them out and vote in the people that will , I hope one day to be a session of your country , and if the majority feels the way y’all are talking here make that change . By the way I’m just asking questions , cause I’ll be there very soon and if there is a color issue whites and blacks , all I ask who meets me , and trust me I will be out and about , I talk to everybody I don’t care color of skin , I’m white but don’t put me into that white boat please , I just want to enjoy my retirement , and enjoy you and your island , I fear no man , listen I live in the ghetto now , the only white boy to do so , I give respect you to first , let’s just be friends and enjoy life please . How can a Minister of Finance say St Lucia is broke when the Treasury has not produced any financial statements in over 10 years and neither SLP nor UWP is asking or holding anyone accountable. We need to take a closer look at what we are spending the money and on that causes us to have a deficit Budget. They are spending it on public servants management who are not performing, spending it on public works that never happen and plus we are taking too many loans from World Bank and other international financial institutions. We need an audit of all government operations from an outside body and tell us tax payers as is, who is not doing their jobs.

Now you on vacation in St lucia and crying foul? You attributed the rising crime rate to children having children. Like, wtf does that have to do with crime?
You expanded ministries, you have the distinction of having the largest cabinet ever, you gave Guy money to go on a witch hunt, and you have the audacity to say we in the red? You clearly don’t have a clue as to what to do next. You have lied your way to the top. Congratulations. Enjoy it while it lasts.

We are selling our birth right for a few short years of dreamed up prosperity. Our economy is being taken over by foreigners who may call the shots in Government .Due to our shortsighted vision we have relegated our local businesses and farmers to third class citizens. Hotels are given a carte blanche right to import mangoes and water. When eill blackpeople learn??

Why don’t all you racist, sad, sick and bitter SLP hacks stop the hate and do something productive for your country. This is our country and government. Show some respect and have some pride. But, I suppose, these are qualities that are not part of your SLP mentality. I really feel sorry for you all.

And we can grow it and export it around the world. It is the next big industry, like SVG prime minister says. We should be at the forefront of this and making money, not tiptoeing behind America and them. We will lose out if we do not step up.

Black people in St Lucia and in the Caribbean get to know who you are. Let history reveal it self to you. You are the children of Abraham God’s Holy Propet which the Bible talks about. Your Ancestors were bought to the Caribbean as slaves because they turned their back against God and God said He would scattered them all over the earth for disobeying Him. You are the child of Israel which the Bible is talking about. That knowledge has been hidden from us because the world did not want you to know who we were. Our Ancestors were taken out of Africa as slaves and brought to the caribbean and south America. Your country of origin was the Middle East. You are coming from a great Civilisation. God Almighty gave me this message to give to you. He said you must repent from all wrong doing and keep his ten commandments and his other laws read EXODUS CHAPTER 20 and read the rest of the Bible it is your history. When you repent and call upon his name he will deliver you Israel from the curses which was put upon us in Deuteronomy chapter 28. The LORD Said in the last days he will awake his people all over the world to give them the knowledge of truth so that every man will know who they are, and as they turn to him he will pardon them and will lead the children of Israel back to the Middle East which is their original home where He will set up his Kingdom and rule the earth with his people forever. According to the Scriptures the Holy Bible The Almighty God is a Black Being. Revelation chapter 1:14,15. Daniel chapter 7:9.

    Excuses Excuses Excuses!

Chass – you really have to respect for the intelligence of your employers. We all know that when a Gov senses they imminent departure that the Treasury is raided to pay for all sorts of last minute projects. In the UK the outgoing Labour Gov left a post it note to the incoming Finance Minister saying “No La Jean in di vault”

The majority of sensible Lucians would have already been aware of that. What do you propose to change the situation – please don’t cy you’ve done so already.

We want your solutions to the problems not for you to reiterate what we already know.

When your party came into power why didn’t you cut all Minister’s salaries so that you could show that your party is really and truly for the people!

Why cut VAT a revenue generating income source!
Why did you reduce road tax !
Why did you cut the fee paid for CIP!
Why don’t you collect all the proper Tax from the hotel owners! Stop giving such lucrative tax holidays (Red and Yellow)!
Why lease our land for $1 PSF
Why are you sitting on you laurels regarding the legalisation of Cannabis – not just for social consumption but for MASS production and export!

One can go on but hey.

Legalising Cannabis for mass production and export is precisely what can turn things around for St Lucia.

Why waste money on reports, discussions, health impact etc. they’ve all been done by First World, economist and Medical Scientists and guess what the PROS far out way the Cons!

Once upon a time Caribbean Govs use to invite the US Army to come down and burn all the Cannabis plantations.

Now they’re (US Gov) legalising it State by State and are reaping BILLIONS, I’ll repeat BILLIONS of dollars in income.

Stop being a puppet to these Hoteliers and stop investing the little bit of money left in the Treasury on Tourism (our most VOLATILE) industry.

    Re-direct those funds to AGRICULTURE.

Stop following the status quo in politics, BUCK THE TREND be different, adventurous, innovating and risk taking.

Finally what are you doing to attract Lucian ex pats back to island?

It sounds like we’re experiencing the effects of brain drain. Especially when a convict escapes and our Police Force thought they should not make the public aware for nearly 24hours – MENTAL absolutely MENTAL.

St Lucia has given away its island to foreign investors, and continues on this same path. Not many St Lucians benefit from this ,only the privileged few. There are package tour which sell St Lucia as a tropical paradise when the reality for many is poverty , a struggle and a lack of oppurtunity. Do visitors realise that there are no health care and housing schemes nor social security in place. Most people have to pay to have their children educated while in many countries in Europe , for example, education is state funded.
There is a huge resevoir of natural resources on the island which can be harnessed and made into products that can be exported and sold locally too.
I am talking about the humble coconut ,for example among others.
In my village one local post- man has just started a business making coconut yoghurt ,using milk from his own herd of goats. Is it not possible to empower people by funding such enterprises and creating markets.
Aromatic herbs could be distilled to produce important essential oils used globally . Ylang Ylang among other plants grow in St lucia and has a rich essential oil component which is used as a sedative and nervine. There are numerous species of medicinal plants that can be utilized for medicine and as food sources.
The natural world in St Lucia is rich and is able to support numerous cottage industries.Peoples’ lives, surely, can only be empowered and enhanced by this, generating a sense of dignity and hope.

I hv traveled the whole world and I see things differently, I personally think St Lucia should better economically on the world map, So I support initiatives that would develop, create employment, growth and prosperity for my Country..Amen

If you niggers spent half of the time working than you do complaining and blaming, you’d all be better off. And St. Lucia wouldn’t be the $hithole that it is today. I’ll be retiring to St. Lucia very soon so I want it cleaned up before I get there.
