Escaped prisoner recaptured

Escaped prisoner, Dexter Jn Baptiste, alias ‘Chucky’ and ‘Dave’ has been recaptured, law enforcement sources have disclosed.

The prisoner was held by police this morning, Wednesday, January 18 2017 at around 7:20 am.

According to information, Vieux Fort police cornered him in an abandoned house at Bruceville.

Jn Baptiste was unharmed, the Times was informed.

He had escaped this week as he was being led to the courthouse in Vieux Fort where he was expected to give evidence as a prosecution witness.

However, Jn Baptiste is also an accused in an indictable offence involving a female in Mon Repos.

He is also alleged to have threatened to kill the woman.

There have been expressions of concern that the prisoner was reportedly being conveyed to the courthouse without being handcuffed.

There have also been called for an investigation into the matter.

The Times understands that Vieux Fort police received numerous tips from members of the public in apprehending the escaped prisoner whose photograph had been plastered all over  the social media.

The police have been engaging in a round the clock hunt for the escapee.
