NCA responds to Digicel hike

The National Consumers Association (NCA) has responded to the recent hike in post paid rates announced by telecommunications company, Digicel.

Acting President of the NCA, Chesterfield Octave, told the Times that it was appropriate to respond since a specific sum has been given.

Octave said the hike will affect persons who have post paid arrangements with Digicel.

“In these difficult times we know that this additional amount can impact negatively on the disposable income of these consumers,” the Acting President of the NCA explained.

He stated that consumers will have to make some adjustments in their spending or seek alternative providers to mitigate the new cost.

Octave recalled that consumers were informed that there will be some improvement in Digicel’s service.

“I would like to ask all consumers to ┬ápay attention to these adjustments as to whether whether these adjustments will be to their benefit and are adjustments that will be expected by all consumers,” he told the Times.

He urged consumers to pay careful attention to what is being done as stated by Digicel.

    So you’re saying a whole lot of nothing. When the rate hike takes effect I guarantee all those people will use their cell phones to call each other to complain.

    To me in the statement I saw in the news from the Digicel head, the increase will NOT affect all customers. Just like what was happening in the other OECS countries. People in this country need to read more. We always going on emotion rather than seeking facts. Choops.
