LUCELEC to meet with southern residents to discuss solar farm

Press Release:-Castries, January 27, 2017Vieux-Fort residents are invited to attend a town hall meeting on the proposed 3 megawatt (MW) solar farm being developed by the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) in La Tourney, Vieux Fort.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 5 pm at the National Skills Development Centre, located at Hewanorra Orchard on the St. Jude’s Highway.

The Town Hall meeting is being held ahead of the commencement of works on the solar farm. Residents will receive an overview of the project and an understanding of how the solar farm fits into St. Lucia’s energy future.

Residents will also be given an opportunity to ask questions about the project and any potential impact on the community. They will be able to engage representatives from LUCELEC, the Ministry with responsibility for Public Utilities and Energy, the Ministry with responsibility for Sustainable Development, and other technical experts connected to the project.

The 3 megawatt solar farm is St. Lucia’s largest renewable energy project to date.
