Syrian refugees stuck in Antigua

Antigua Observer:– Several Syrian refugees living in Antigua & Barbuda who were anxiously waiting to resettle in the United States have to now wait indefinitely following the recent signing of the controversial executive order by US President Donald Trump.

The four refugees who were among over a dozen kept in custody here, have been anticipating their move for nearly a year after they were granted asylum by the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organisation on Migration (IOM).

UNHCR local representative Michael Joseph said however, the stroke of President Trump’s pen reversed the approval as his order not only restricts immigration from seven Muslim countries, but it also suspends all refugee admission for 120 days and specifically bars all Syrian refugees indefinitely.

lol. I wish we would do the same here. Restrict those Syrians and muslims. Those Syrians have brought in all the drugs and guns, washed their dirty money using their stores and now buying out all of Lucia. They should go back to Allepo and fight the war too.

Are you aware how many st lucians are currently employed by Syrians who have since renounced their citizenship to Syria? yes most of them barely get paid, but we much prefer to have a job than to stay home to do nothing, only to be criticized.

St. Lucia should happily welcome our Syrian brothers and sisters.

Our island could easily embrace and accept 10,000 or our brothers and sisters that are only seeking a better life. Plenty of space.

Here, we have so much extra space that is being wasted — space that is now being frittered away and not being productive as to being cultivated for food or being sustainably built upon. Our Syrian brothers and sisters have provided a fine example of the results of a disciplined application of work ethic, the reinforcing family values that are taught by Allah, and the rewards of a life morally lived.

There is an active social media community that provides detailed information on how best for refugees to arrive here, join our life here, get work, a decent place to live, community support and to prosper. This is a wonderful opportunity for our island to enrich its lot in life, get on the Internet and put your name for helping out.

We all belong to Allah, and we shall all return to him.

All we need do is to look around us increasingly on our island, in communities large and small, as we are becoming more enlightened through bathing in the heat of a thousand suns that comes from living in his faith, living a life of faith, and realization of the spiritual actualization and life gains that come from soaking up this sun of enlightenment. A chair has been saved for you for joining St. Lucia’s growing family of faith. The inclusive bus awaits you, my friend.

So unlock your door and let the
Them live in your house. Pay their monthly allowance and be happy. Why do you want them to be transferred to US if you are so happy to have them. Let them stay with you forever. You have a lot in common.

Calvin, self -hatred is the worse form of hatred a being can demonstrate. How dare you support Syrians coming to settle in our country? Do you think they are better than us? If the tables were turned do you honestly think they would be so benevolent? Are you even aware of your history? They do business here, straight up! They are not of us nor for us. Stop being so naive. We do not want a ton load of them coming here and mixing in with us. Leave them where they are. As a matter of fact, let Allah save them!

St. Lucia can barely afford to provide for her own people you’re talking about welcoming more Syrians here. Please. We first have to take care of ourselves to care for others.

The Syrians here are hard working. If they keep to themselves they right. Lucian’s love to fight down each other too much. If u black and u start a business the same black ppl that fighting u down with lies even ur own family don’t want to support u. I admire the Syrian family values and work effics

they only benefit themselves. Please don’t let them overrun St.Lucia. As a nation we need to take care of us first only then we can consider others.

We do not all belong to Allah. The God of Judiasm and Christianity is not the same as the God of Islam, how dare you? Why is there a mosque on TOP of Solomons Temple? The god of ISIS, al_kaida, Boko Haram, SL Shebab and all the rest of the Muslim terrorist groups thruout the world gives birth to all of them.

Calvin is a muslim himself, u can identify them by the words used Allah. These people are trying to infiltrate all countries around the world so they can bring about their jihad, their religion by forcing you to accept or die. Now u guys might say NOT TRUE!, but im telling u to be careful who u let in. I’m St. Lucian but live in america and what im saying is true. Im not in politics, but sorry to say trump might not be likeable but, he has a point. Just be careful my people. The muslim faith/ koran believes as long as u are not part of them u are an infidel and should be killed. Im telling u they are in your schools, churches, government they are everywhere.

Unfortunately, as we see almost daily in the worldwide media, including some posts on this web site, religious extremism is a festering cancer that affects many religions, as does racial intolerance and the culture of fear-mongering (for example, “…they are everywhere.”, whatever that is supposed to mean and refer to)

This in a time when we should be seeking to live harmoniously all together, and seeking to understand our differences and viewpoints and work harmoniously in an increasingly globally integrated world.

If you live by the sword, they you die by the sword.
Muslims and Blacks cannot live “harmoniously” with humans.
Muslims wish to kill all of us who do not believe in Islam – Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, etc. We are the non-belivers.
Blacks also wish to kill all humans because we are so different from them – not even donkeys have kinky hair.

Nowadays, we are too tolerant: why forget what the muslims did in India, France, Germany, Belgium, etc. Islam is the only “religion” that preaches that killing non-believers is according to God.
I think Donald Trump is the man to stop this nonsense

It’s obvious how closed minded some people are. Everywhere you go there are other races who operate businesses and they support each other. Every race but the black people does this. The person who said taking a page out of their book would be beneficial isn’t wrong. Maybe if we built our own businesses and supported each other some of the struggle would be alleviated. Is that really such a niave way to think? Nope not at all. Now I also noticed how many people seem to hate Syrians and Muslims… Personally I’ve come across Syrians before, and yes sometimes these people do look down upon ppl of color. You can’t assume every Syrian is like that. People fear what they don’t understand. SMH. Also generalizing that Isis, Al-Queda and other terrorist groups are a backbone in Islam is wrong. Not all Muslims support these people. Just like in Christianity there are different factions in Islam (called schools). I’m not telling anyone how to think but, do some research before you spew hatred. Surely these people are refugees for a reason. Don’t you think they’d prefer to be in their own country? As you know there’s a lot going on in that area of the world right now. Think before you speak because you’re making our Caribbean people LOOK ignorant. Sorry not sorry. Something had to be said

To the rulers of St Lucia do protect the borders of the land of St Lucia from people who does not mean any good to your nation and to your people. Do not forget history. It is important to guard the borders of your country.

There has to be some opposition to not just Syrians coming in but many other nationalities. Thanks to the so called Christians especially the uneducated and proselytized sheepish ones.Fact is that not one Syrian was responsible for 9/11.Our young black St Lucian men and women ae the ones committing crimes so there is no logical reason to criticisize Syrians. As A matter of fact A host of terrorists originate from Saudi Arabia, I wonder why they were not included on Trumps list.Fact is we are slowly denigrating because of U.S. influence and nothing else.
