CCC workers will now be represented by NWU

Over one hundred and fifty (150) workers employed with the Castries Constituency Council (CCC) will now be represented by the National Workers Union (NWU).

About two (2) weeks ago the workers participated in a process undertaken by the Department of Labour, the results of which demonstrated clearly their democratic wishes.

On the heels of the said process the NWU was instructed to submit a recognition claim on the workers’ behalf. The CCC informed the Labour Commissioner that it was always willing to hear the workers’ position and as a matter of respect recognize the workers decision.

Since then the National Workers Union has received a Recognition Certificate as the exclusive bargaining agent for the workers from Labour Commissioner Mr. Ray Narcisse.

The NWU will be holding a special general meeting for the employees at which representational matters will be high on the agenda.
