Son in court after stabbing death of father

Twenty-six year old Ezra Smith appeared in court today on a charge of murder in connection with the stabbing death of his father, Charles Augustin, 51.

Augustin died at Pavee on February 3, 2017, allegedly after an argument with Smith.

Smith was remanded in custody at the Bordelais Correctional Facility until March 16, 2017, when he is expected to reappear in court.

    Stluciatimes- Could you not find the correct way to write the headline before sending out? Stop making me ashamed. It should have read STABBING TO DEATH… use spell check and that other aap to get it right and professional people. I’ll send it to you.
    Heart breaking as I work with your people and it breaks mine and my colleagues hearts that we too often know these young people and feel like we have failed them when we are not getting the support needed.

    I hope this young man is subject to mental evaluation as part of his sentencing. He clearly has committed a wrong, but we must always temper justice with mercy. In any event, if it is true that there is a history of mental illness in the family, then the level of culpability of the accused may be minimal. Let us be charitable.
