The Northern Long Distance Walking Group, organizers of the annual Independence Walk around Saint Lucia, has begun the process of preparing for the much anticipated 5th annual Challenge, slated to take place on Tuesday 21st February 2017.
Recognizing the significance of this celebration, we intend to commemorate in 2017, our 38th anniversary of independence, in the way we have done for the past four years. The fifth independence walk will begin at Massy Store in Cul-De-Sac on February 21st. Walkers will proceed via the west coast and will continue via the east coast, to end on the William Peter Boulevard in Castries on the 22nd.
The response to this activity, has improved immensely since its inception in 2013. The number of participants and finishers have been impressive each year, as the figures below indicate, with a remarkable combination of men, women and youth, evidence of the increased value which is being placed on healthy living and personal discipline. Moreover, we anticipate increased participation in 2017.
