Alvina Reynolds, former Minister of Health, has called on Guy Joseph, the Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation, to make an audit report on St Jude hospital public.
The former minister told a Castries Market steps meeting of the opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) on Sunday night that the sum of some one million dollars had been paid for the audit report.
She quoted Guy Joseph as saying that the report contained a very detailed study of the St Jude project, covering every aspect including technical, contractual and other engagements.
“You can do all that, but you cannot pay the contractors in your own ministry,” Reynolds told SLP supporters.
She said Guy Joseph had asserted that the consultants who prepared the audit would make a presentation to the cabinet of ministers, summarising the findings of their report.
“The presentation to the cabinet has happened, so what now?” The former Babonneau MP said.
She recalled the Minister saying that other departments would review the report to determine what steps the government needs to take.
“Since when Guy Joseph takes advice from any public servant?” Reynolds said.
“What is in the report? Make it public. We demand to see the report that the taxpayers paid almost one million dollars for,” she declared.
