Police recover illegal guns

Saint Lucia police have recovered some seven illegal guns in the past few weeks,National Security Minister, Hermangild Francis has disclosed.

Francis told reporters today that members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) have been working very hard in the battle against crime.

“As long as you see firearms being recovered, there is going to be the corresponding lull in gun violence,” the minister asserted.

He said as a result of the illegal gun seizures, persons would likely turn to the use of other weapons like knives and cutlasses.

Francis, a former Deputy Police Commissioner, asserted that sometimes when people want to commit a crime and make up their mind to do so, they cannot be stopped.

“You will see as long as the police have been vigilant with the firearms, they are going to resort to other weapons,” Francis stated.

When the weapons are turned in what do ull do after?. How about fingerprint testing off the weapon and photo s off the weapon and put in the database too find out if this item was use in any crime.
