Saint Lucian ladies shine in IBF Antilles Hoops Finals

The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation congratulates Team Saint Lucia on their performance at the recently concluded IBF Antilles U18 3X3 Hoops Finals.

The nation and the rest of the world witnessed a talented display of basketball as Saint Lucia hosted the inaugural tournament at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports Complex on February 25th and 26th.

This was the SLBF and by extension Saint Lucia’s first time hosting a FIBA endorsed tournament of this magnitude.

By all accounts of participants, organizers, partners and spectators, the event was a tremendous success.

18 teams representing 11 countries displayed a high level of basketball in 55 competitive matchups.

Team Martinique dominated both the Under 18 men’s and women’s categories, winning all their matchups throughout the tournament, earning the right to be called IBF Antilles 3×3 champions.

The home teams gave an impressive showing of themselves however achieving mixed results.

The men unfortunately were not able to capitalize on holding the home court advantage, winning only one of their four games, missing out on a chance on advancing to the knockout stages.

The Under 18 women however made up with a 5-3 record, one of their losses being in the final of the tournament to a formidable Martinique team.

The four young women- (Mia George, Jermiah Evariste, Ramani Lewis-Emmanuel and Romia Joseph) played a very high level of basketball placed second in the Tournament.

Special congratulations are in order for star talent Ramani Lewis-Emmanuel for capturing the U18 Women’s Most Valuable Player Award.

The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation expresses heartfelt gratitude and also congratulates all those whom in part made the event a resounding success.
