Minister with responsibility for External Affairs, Sarah Flood-Beaubrun, accompanied a group of locally based diplomats, employees of embassies here and staff of her ministry on a climb on Saturday of Gros Piton.
More than twenty individuals, including the Ambassadors of Venezuela and France who are reported to be avid and experienced mountaineers, were members of the party.
The Ambassadors of Cuba and Argentina, along with representatives of Spain, Chile, Brazil, Austria and Mexico, as well as the representative of the Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture( IICA) were also present.
The climb was organised by the Diplomatic Corps and supported by the Ministry for External Affairs.
The party began the ascent at around 9:20 am and reached the summit of Gros Piton at around 11:45 am.
Once at the top Minster Flood-Beaubrun, the diplomats and the rest of the party had light snacks.
The minister also took the opportunity to hold informal talks with the diplomats.
Flood-Beaubrun told the Times that the event was a great opportunity, in an informal setting, to build on the relationship with the official from the various friendly countries which were represented.
