Two injured in truck mishap

Two males were injured when a supply truck  belonging to St Lucia Distillers Limited rolled down the Sarrot Hill today, according to an eyewitness report.

Both injured men were stuck in the vehicle after it overturned at around 9 am and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.

It was unclear what caused the accident.

Jason King, the Finance Director of St Lucia Distillers Limited told the Times that he was in the office this morning when he received a report that one of the company’s trucks had gone down a precipice in Sarrot.

He said he and other employees rushed to the scene.

“The Fire Service got there first and was able to remove the two occupants of the truck,” he said.

King disclosed that both were conscious at the time but in pain.

The company official said the men appear to have sustained broken limbs but their injuries did not seem to be life  threatening..

Both were rushed to hospital.

“We just hope that our employees will make a full recovery,” King said, adding that a full investigation will be launched in an attempt to prevent a recurrence of today’s accident.
