NWU to hold first Youth Congress

Press Release:-The National Workers Union (NWU) is at an advanced stage in its preparations to hold its first Youth Congress.  About fifty (50) young workers from branches of the NWU between the ages of 18 – 35 will participate in the day’s proceedings to be held at the St. Lucian by Rex Resorts on April 23, 2017.

The Youth Congress on that day will launch the National Workers Union Youth Council. Going forward, the Council will help shape the minds of young workers to understand and have a national voice on the social, economic and political challenges confronting Saint Lucia. The initiative is to prepare young workers to hold top positions in the Union.

In the Open Session participants will be welcomed by Cde Johann Harewood, Assistant Secretary General of the Union.

There will be an address by the Government Minister with responsibility for Youth Development and the Feature Address will be delivered by Ms. Keithlin Caroo, Junior Desk Officer – Mediation Support Unit, Policy and Mediation Division in the Department of Political Affairs of the United Nations. Phelia Wilson an NWU Central Committee member will move the Vote of Thanks.
