A search party today located a carjacked vehicle in the Barnard Hill car park based on information provided by a security guard, a member of the party has disclosed.
The discovery of the Mazda pickup,PA3239, was made at around 2:15 pm, according to information.
The persons in the search party who located it said they were not sure whether the carjacked vehicle was in working condition as they were awaiting processing by the police.
They told the Times that a Security Guard who had seen messages posted on social media about the missing vehicle raised an alarm.
The vehicle was being driven by 62 year Dennery resident, Gilbert Wilfred, last night at around 11.30 pm when he was accosted by a masked gunman.
The assailant held up Wilfred after he stopped near the Fond D’Or Heritage Park and disembarked to urinate, a relative told the Times
The family member told the Times that the gunman ordered the father of seven to get back into the vehicle, threatening to shoot if he did not comply with directions given.
Wilfred was told to drive to an area of La Ressource where the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) has a centre, ordered to get out of the vehicle and instructed to lie face down on the ground.
The gunman relieved his victim of a wallet and a mobile telephone before driving off with Gilbert’s vehicle.
Gilbert, who is also known as ‘Spillover’ and ‘Mr.Dillin’, later walked to the Richfond police station, avoiding the main road for fear that he might encounter the gunman again.
He made a report to the police and later contacted his family.
Family members have expressed relief that despite his ordeal, Wilfred was not harmed.
They have also expressed gratitude to members of the public who kept broadcasting messages about the stolen vehicle on social media.
