A former convict was shot outside the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) today.
The incident occurred at around noon today, it is reported.
According to information obtained by the Times, the male individual who was in possession of a machete at the time, was challenged by a Correctional Officer near the BCF farm.
The former convict is reported to have been asked to submit to a search, when he made a threatening move towards the officer who fired a single shot that hit him in the leg.
A search of the injured former BCF inmate revealed that he had in his possession three mobile telephones and a portion of compressed marijuana, a reliable source told the Times.
The former convict was transported to the Dennery Hospital.
