Press Release:-The United Workers Party finds very hypocritical the various positions taken by former Saint Lucia Labour Party Government Minister James Fletcher and other Labor Party Operatives such as Sir Julian R Hunte on the proposed Dolphin Project.
Mr. Fletcher has proven himself to be a fake and a flip flopper of the highest order.
In his recent efforts to mislead the people of Saint Lucia Mr. Fletcher has presented himself as an environmentalist concerned about dolphins, when in fact he was part of the Cabinet of Ministers that approved the project in 2013.
At a Saint Lucia National Trust Meeting held on Saturday March 11th the former Minister for Public Service, Information, Broadcasting, Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology said that when he served in the Kenny Anthony administration that the Dolphin Project was rejected.
We have now learnt that this was untrue and according to Cabinet Conclusion dated 8th July 2013 the then Kenny Anthony Cabinet of which Dr. Fletcher was a member approved the “Swim with the Dolphins” project.
The Dolphin project was further announced by Kenny Anthony is his budget address of 2014.
The United Workers Party believes that the Saint Lucia National Trust has tainted itself by first allowing Saint Lucia Labour Party operatives such as ex Minister Fletcher who are lying to the people, to speak on their behalf and by the Trust NOT stating any objections at the time to the project but is now stating an objection to this new UWP administration shows that the issue has been politicized.
This is not the first issue that Mr. Fletcher has flip flopped on.
He was also in the Kenny Anthony administration when the Citizenship by Investment Programme was approved. Now he has said he is against the CIP programme.
Wasn’t He best placed to voice his concerns about these issues when he had the ear of the then Prime Minister?
How can the Saint Lucia National Trust or the People of Saint Lucia trust anything Mr. Fletcher says?
It seems clear to the UWP that depending on which administration is in power his position is ever ready to change.
The UWP believes that Mr. Fletcher has lost all credibility to speak on this is issue and must publicly apologize to the members of the National Trust Members that he has mislead and the people of Saint Lucia.
