Antigua implements Brazil meat ban

Antigua & Barbuda has followed the lead of Saint Lucia and other countries in the region in banning Brazilian meat products and chicken.

The decision was made yesterday by cabinet.

In addition to Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda now joins Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica and Trinidad & Tobago in banning meat products from Brazil.

Brazil has been hit by a scandal after news that inspectors had been bribed to certify meat for export that was rotten or tainted with salmonella.
