Jamaica: Larceny charge for pocketing lost wallet

An airport worker who found a wallet containing US $700 and $2,500 at his workplace and kept it for himself, has been charged with larceny.

According to Jamaica Observer, Leroy Morgan, 55, is to know his fate on April 25.

Morgan, who was employed as a janitor at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, pleaded guilty to larceny by finding when he appeared in court last Friday.

The court heard that on January 20, the complainant lost his wallet in the lounge at the airport, which he reported.

Following an investigation, Morgan was seen on camera taking up the wallet.

The wallet was recovered without the cash.

Morgan, when he appeared in court, told the judge that he had used some of the cash but had replaced and handed over all of the money to the complainant.

His bail was then extended for him to return for his sentencing in April.
