PM: Patrimony measured in credit ratings

Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has urged his countrymen to control their own destiny  recognising that patrimony is measured in credit ratings.

“The world is a selfish place,” the Prime Minister said.

He was addressing the official opening ceremony of the Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa on Thursday night.

“In controlling our destiny it is with the understanding that patrimony today is measured in my mind by one thing and one thing only – our credit rating,” Chastanet declared.

According to the Prime Minister, if you cannot go to the table and negotiate from the position of a viable entity then there is nothing to leverage.

“I see some countries in the world who protect their credit rating as if it is all that they have and this is something that throughout, unfortunately, the Caribbean we have not come to appreciate,” he told his audience.

Chastanet said that viability is required to negotiate on one’s own terms.

“The greatest opportunity for viability – the industry that can generate the greatest amount of growth, jobs and more importantly that can create the greatest amount of opportunity for other industries to grow, is tourism,” the former Tourism Minister told his audience.

“I see some countries in the world who protect their credit rating as if it is all that they have and this is something that throughout, unfortunately, the Caribbean we have not come to appreciate.”
What he is saying is we Caribbean people (black people) have a problem with maintaining good credit. Basically enforcing a negative stereotype.

You are in fact reinforcing what he said. Seems your negative attitude brings out exactly what is bad about credit rating. Better if you had taken note of what he said and vow to get out of the paranoia or mental slavery

Allen stop playing on peoples mind….. St.Lucia credit rating is not been done as a sole country….. The credit rating for St.Lucia is listed in the OCES Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.

No it is not. Each island has their own rating. Some are rated by regional entities, some by international.

This is the stereio type which continues to put one race against the other. I recall once listening to a so called intellectual who repeated a much talked about phrase which goes like this ” If you want to hide something from a black man put it in a book.” I then ask what happened to the book? He couldn’t answer, I said the book was hidden in schools, Libraries and other places in whick black people were barred from entering… It was illegal for blacks to read and write. The PM is drawing on this same refrain to make is ill advise comment.

This speech sounds eerily familiar. Let me place a call to India.

It is rather rich coming you to say you see countries protecting what dear to them. Why don’t you takr a leaf out their book and tell Ahhhhhhh Khing Maria Island is not for defiling. After you have done so then you will have earned the legitimate right to talk about protection. Otherwise shut your Trump washed mouth.

Patrimony is measured by credit rating? My god. We are in so much trouble with this man. The sad thing is there are people on here supporting this crazy thinking.

Yes we were. Unfortunately we left the frying pan and jumped into the fire. Whether you like it or not Kenny was by far more responsible than this reckless incompetent.

PATRIMONY………………. I must now forget about my birthrights, my cultural inheritance, my geographic inheritance, and my heritage. I must start to concentrate on the money from Passport which will be place in an offshore bank. Allen i am ST.Lucia but you are France.

PM Allen Chastanet was born in Martinique on November 20, 1960

And you were born only yesterday. Because you do not know where John Compton, George Mallet, and Clendon Mason were born. You also do not seem to know of the many St. Lucians who are playing major political roles in foreign countries. So your insularity in pardonable.

What is he implying? The sam vacuous statements over and over. If he cannot govern then step aside. I do not think he has the economic and political acumen to push the country forward. We know what the problems are so let us solve them.

I do not suppose he understands what patrimony means. The audience must have been quite perplexed. But we made the choice so we must live with it.
