Donations fund the administrative expenses and programs of the grant-making institution.
The National Community Foundation (NCF) will host the press launch of the 14th annual National Telethon.
The Telethon was conceptualized in order to raise additional funds required for administrative expenses and programs. Although the NCF receives an annual subvention from the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) which is used to fund some of the programs currently offered, the Telethon continues to be the major fundraiser for the organization.
The NCF was established by an act of parliament in August 2002, and is a philanthropic, non-profit, non-governmental organization that functions primarily as a grant making institution. The organization supports initiatives that engender self-development and social upliftment through the provision of assistance to emerging individual and community needs in education, health, social services, arts and culture, community development, environment, and civic affairs.
The press launch will be held at 10 a.m. in the conference room of the National Community Foundation on High Street. The annual National Telethon will be held on May 28.
Persons interested in making donations before and after the Telethon may do so by depositing funds to one of the following bank accounts: Bank of Saint Lucia – account #104511121; First National Bank – account #8405087 or by donating online at www.ncfstlucia.lc.
Persons wishing to make donations during the hosting of the Telethon should tune in to NTN from 1 p.m., and call the numbers displayed on the screen during the broadcast.
