The government invites expressions of interest for the provision of services to Saint Lucia medical facilities.

The Government of Saint Lucia, acting through the Ministry of Health and Wellness, is preparing for the opening of the Owen King European Union Hospital.

Housekeeping and janitorial services;

Laboratory services including the provision of such services to polyclinics and the operation of the laboratory equipment at the Owen King EU Hospital;

Laundry services including the operation of the laundry at the Owen King EU Hospital;

Medical facility management services including provision of a top-level management team that includes personnel qualified and experienced in specialized areas of medical facility management;

Specialized plant and equipment maintenance services;

    G oing by my experiences with in the involvement of the private sector especially in supplying food for patients in hospitals, I know the food will be nothing to look forward to eating. It will be more less some watery soup which is not appetizing. I don’t know why the private sector have to be involved in these services. in my view its just a way for some to line their pockets at tax payers expense.

    It is clear from this notice that the Government is looking to privatise the main operations of the new hospital.
    Why has the Government not made a policy statement to the public about its plans to privatise the hospital?
    Have the staff of Victoria hospital who were being trained and prepared to move to the new hospital been informed of this, and what is the trade union saying about this?

    If the government is now advertising these services that means that it will be at least 9 months to a year before contractors can start providing the services.
    At this rate, the hospital will not be in operation more than 2 years after the Naming Ceremony of 22 Feb 2016.
    Shame on the Kenny Anthony administration for fooling the people into believing that the hospital would be open soon after the naming ceremony last year.
    Shame on the Allen Chastanet administration for taking their cool time to get the hospital operational while the people continue to suffer and die at VH and the Stadium

    But this suggests that the new hospital will be a private hospital only with its coordination coming from the Ministry of Health. Is government bailing out?

    It is my guess that The objective of this approach is to ensure that the required services are delivered to the health care system with maximum efficiency and at affordable cost.
    This approach will also means giving the private sector a well deserved boost . ….giving opportunities to the local business people
    what I see is more employment opportunities government is not an employment agency but provides the environment for the private sector to create employment
    To the person with the watery food talk that’s how cooking is done at them they dont know better

    This is good news people, now everybody has a chance to earn some money by providing these services to the new hospital. Not the usual way, where only the friends of those in charge have access to those opportunities.
