Suspected battered bandit appears in court

Suspected battered bandit, Reynolds Alfred, 25, of Carielle made his first appearance today at the First District Court in Castries for a bail hearing, but had to be transported to Anse La Raye due to the unavailability of a Court Prosecutor.

Alfred hid his face with a towel.

He was charged with robbery in connection with an incident on Sunday in which a shop at Cacao, Babonneau was robbed.

The suspect was held by the shop owner and residents of the community and  given a beating.

Photos of a battered victim, who was later stripped naked, were posted on social media.

The residents said he got what he deserved and was fortunate to survive.
