SLNT supports Bishnu Tulsie despite PM’s call to remove him

The Saint Lucia National Trust (SLNT) stands solidly behind its Director, Bishnu Tulsie, despite calls by Prime Minister Allen Chastanet for him to be sent home, the Chairperson of the organisation, Doctor Vasantha Chase has said.

Chase recalled that Chastanet had publicly called Tulsie a liar.

“Up to now – I will be very honest and frank with you, no one in council or the staff or the members have any idea as to why he has been called publicly a liar,” the SLNT Chairperson said.

However Chase asserted that the SLNT supports the work that Tulsie does and is ‘100 percent’ behind him.

“I am not only talking about the council and the staff but all the members said that they stand 100 percent behind Mr. Tulsie,” she declared.

Chase explained that there was ‘something’ that happened when Price Harry visited Saint Lucia in November last year.

“But even for that, we have no evidence for us to do anything at all,” she said, without going into detail.

“It’s not the first time, when I met him in March, that he has asked for this person to be sent home – even when when he met with us in January, he and a few other persons who were around the table felt that this person should be sent home because as the Prime Minister told me in March, the gentleman has lost his objectivity,” Chase explained.

The Allen Chastanet administration has cut the annual $700,000 subvention to the SLNT, a move which the opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has said was in retaliation for the organisation’s opposition to the proposed Dolphin Park at Pigeon Island and the controversial $US 2.6 billion Desert Star Holdings (DSH) project.

Doctor Vasantha Chase said when the SLNT heard about the funding cut the organisation was alarmed.

But she expressed confidence that the trust will be able to bridge the gap in financing.

St. Lucia’s PM is a pathological liar. I do not believe anything that comes out of the man’s mouth. I feel sorry for those who only see yellow in defending him. I can only keep praying for my country. God bless SLU!!!!

We all know the SLNT has the means and capability for sustaining itself financially and I agree with you fully for stating that: “the trust will be able to bridge the gap in financing.” Though I find it to be very bad timing for the PM to be making such moves.

When will you have a little bit of sense! If you don’t know what the Trust does, visit their website, go on Facebook, Google them you imbecile! They look for grants that have and continue to help groups like the charcoal producers, horseback riders, tour guides and seamoss farmers in Vieux Fort…they even acquired a boat for them. Don’t you expect then to collect a small $7EC from locals who use the beach, the bathrooms and showers! Oh my goodness…just keep quiet if you are clueless and focus on your job and how you can help the country instead of tearing down an organization that has been doing so much, of course more can be done but they sure as hell have done a lot compared to many NGOs.

If things need to be cut on then so be it.. why is everyone crying for SLNT when they can sustain their running.. mayb not Mr Tulsie’s salary. But they can. Kenny wanted to cut back 5% from EVERY civil servant in a desperate bid to cut back on expenditure. Somethings have to be cut down somewhere.. sorry for the trust but I eh scared for them now can we plz move on

Conservation of patrimony is everyone’s business especially government. TheTrust manages 25 sites some of which government placed in their care. Shame on the government which I fully supported for defunding the SLNT. St. Lucians will not forget this evil deed!

What’s all the fuss about? Do you prefer him to fake 5% from the civil servants and put back the 2.5% to the vat, what more you want? Where was the trust in 2014 when the then pm pass that same bill what did they say? Is this for st. Lucian or anti Chastenet.
