Montoute: Budget a statement of hope

Declaring that the opposition is there to oppose, spread propaganda and twist the truth, Minister for Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment,Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute has defended the budget presentation of Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet.

“I believe it is a statement of hope,” Montoute said of Tuesday’s budget address by Chastanet who is also Minister for Finance, Economic Growth, Job Creation, External Affairs and the Public Service.

Montoute said although Chastanet gave a true economic picture that exists in Saint Lucia today, he was heartened to know that despite the tight fiscal position the budget for the social services have actually increased.

He told reporters on Wednesday that there is a lot in store for unemployed young people by way of training and employment opportunities in the near future.

“That in itself  gives much hope,” the MP for Gros Islet stated.

“We are also going to be looking at the social safety net programmes under the social services where we are going to be more targetted and as a result, be able to provide perhaps a lot more for the people who really need the assistance,” Montoute explained.

“The budget for social programmers has increased!” Vision as opposed to clueless leadership (if it can be called leadership) . Doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. Or maybe they didn’t wont a different result. Keep the populous poor and uneducated that way they are easier to control!
Chastanet is far from perfect and probably not as book smart as Kenny, but whats the sense of being smart if that smarts doesn’t benefit the people only using it to advance you and your crones!

A budget for the well to do while the middle class is left to bouy the economy and squeezed together with the poor.

This budget provides nothing new. Imagine, Trinidad’s credit rating has been set to JUNK status . . . who will purchase their bonds? Fearless us whose economy is not as strong and we want investors to invest in our bonds. The risk is just too high. Even though a few may do so but the risk is just too much for the majority.
