Labour Party accuses DSH investor of sowing division in St Lucia

Former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony has accused Teo Ah Khing, the Investor behind the controversial DSH project, of causing division in the country and setting St Lucians against each other.

Dr Anthony made the remarks at an opposition rally on the Castries market steps Wednesday.

He said Teo Ah Khing should not be allowed to invest in St Lucia.

“No developer who comes to a country and puts the people of country at war with each other, no developer who comes to a country and causes division among and between the people of the country, that investor should never be allowed to invest in a country if all the investor does is to create warfare, division,” he said.

Dr Anthony said Teo Ah Khing is bringing no money to the table for his investment and was seeking to use the money from the sale of St Lucian passports to raise the money for his development.

Dr Anthony also criticized the government’s decision to cut off the subvention to the St Lucia National Trust and shut down the St Lucia Marketing Board and state-owned Radio St Lucia.

He said “our way of life is being threatened.”

“There are some things in this country that we know we are losing money to operate but we have to keep it because of its intrinsic value to our country. Radio St Lucia is one of those institutions,” Dr Anthony said.

I don’t know about the division and all that but the fact that the sale of our passports is used to finance his development seems like a bad deal to me

Just because it has intrinsic value keep running it even if its operating at a loss. Who listens to RSL? Then you say you care about the people of St Lucia.

Thank you, at least you are one of the many st.Lucian’s that can see through the SLP . They were the ones who approved dhs project but now that they are in opposition, they are using it to fool the simple minded politically ignorant people out there, every project they undertook went into millions of dollars in cost over run but they are critizing a government that has been there less than a year. Dr Anthony also criticized the government’s decision to cut off the subvention to the St Lucia National Trust and shut down the St Lucia Marketing Board and state-owned Radio St Lucia……
He said “our way of life is being threatened.” ………..

How many businesses did you close down when you took office in 1997?
How many citizens from V/fort did you put out of work to employ your supporters who had no knowledge in the fields they were employed in when you reopened the same businesses under a new name (SOUTHERN for example)?
How many persons jobs from V/Fort did you threaten?
How many persons did you put out of work for no reason at all?
How much compensation did these persons receive for their decades of service?
How many persons did you hire to do STEP programme (a slave driven job).
……and the list goes on and on.
I know these things because I was on of the victims.

Kenny you have always been and will always be a greedy, selfish, arrogant and slave driver individual.
You are a Slave-driver just like your ancestors. You enjoy seeing people work hard in the hot sun for little money. Shame on you.
you’re embarrassed that the UWP will create decent jobs for V/fort and St. Lucians on a whole and you are upset that its not slavery, SHAME ON YOU KENNY.

What kind of leader that will allow a radio station in debt and cannot even support itself and keep taking money and accumulating debt. Now I can see why the Country is where it is. Thank God he is the one who put and down and raise up another. I believe some leaders have lost their vision. I believe God has given St Lucia a better visionary ,prime minister Allen.

Everyone would be happy if the project succeeds. What people are afraid of is the very high possibility of failure. All risks of this project belongs to St. Lucia. Imagine the conman um sorry I mean developer plans on getting refunded from passport sales for building the race tract. Can’t we use that money to develop St. Lucia instead of borrowing 300 million dollars.

As a person, Dr. Anthony is likely a very good, measured and intelligent person that most every one of us would enjoy having dinner and engaging on both everyday and world affairs with.
As a politician, he could be perceived as skating on thin ice on the subject of DSH and CIP, to refresh, the Internet never forgets, read the following about Kenny’s announcement of CIP in Monaco (nice picture, too):

That said, and for those commenters on this web site that distractedly and misogynistically play the “true St. Lucian” card, and, very much to his credit, Dr. Anthony had the following to say about the permeating, and poisonous “true St. Lucian” slur:
However, returning to the point, in the interest of transparency, like all officials that hold public office, if memory serves, when he was Prime Minister, he did not disclose the location of his financial holdings.
It is fine to toss stones, at an off-shore investor and that something that his government had a direct role in helping to quarterback (research Dr. Anthony’s and his then Ministers’ comments, or simply ask them directly), but what are we to think of St. Lucians whose financial holdings have been earned in St. Lucia but invested off-shore? Again, transparency, seemingly lacking in this specific case. Opportunities to ask them yourself as follows:

    SLP Party Headquarters:
    2nd Floor, Tom Walcott Building
    Jeremie St., Castries
    P.O. Box 427
    Saint Lucia, West Indies
    Telephone/Fax.: (758) 453-1470
Ask more. Get involved in our democracy. Be heard.

That statement by Kenny is utter rubbish but here is one for Dr. Kenny D. Anthony.

I title it ‘The Reality Overlooked’.
So Dr. Anthony continues his criticisms of Chastanet and blames him for everything including running the country to the ground.
But please Dr. Anthony stop and think. If Chastanet is PM today its because you are not. But you were there before. If you were performing the people would have had no reason to remove you and your party. You would have been PM today.
So, if Chastanet is now PM and doing nonsense as you say then its your fault. Go do the math. Its simple math.
