Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has accused the Opposition, St Lucia Labour Party of making threats but said his government will not be deterred.
The Prime Minister made the accusation during a pre-cabinet press briefing on Monday.
He was reacting to statements ascribed to Former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony in which Dr. Anthony purportedly said that he would not rest until the DSH project is either renegotiated or stopped.
Mr. Chastanet also accused Dr. Anthony of threatening investors to the country.
“He’s now out of office, the same investors that he could not gain the confidence of. The same investors that he could not get them to deliver on the project, he’s now threatening them,” Chastanet said.
The St Lucia Labour Party held a mass public demonstration last week to protest the government’s decisions and policies.
Mr. Chastanet said the SLP was on a trail of destruction and continuing to play a divisive game.
However, he said his government will abide by the rule of law and was committed to making the developments happen.
“Let me reassure St Lucians that the United Workers Party and my cabinet are not deterred and I think that the evidence of Kenny Anthony and the Labour party of what they have achieved over the last twenty years is evident for everyone to see.”
The Prime Minister sought to reassure investors that St Lucia is a country that follows the rule of law and that his government was duly elected.
