PM: Government not deterred by SLP “threats”

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has accused the Opposition, St Lucia Labour Party of making threats but said his government will not be deterred.

The Prime Minister made the accusation during a pre-cabinet press briefing on Monday.

He was reacting to statements ascribed to Former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony in which Dr. Anthony purportedly said that he would not rest until the DSH project is either renegotiated or stopped.

Mr. Chastanet also accused Dr. Anthony of threatening investors to the country.

“He’s now out of office, the same investors that he could not gain the confidence of. The same investors that he could not get them to deliver on the project, he’s now threatening them,” Chastanet said.

The St Lucia Labour Party held a mass public demonstration last week to protest the government’s decisions and policies.

Mr. Chastanet said the SLP was on a trail of destruction and continuing to play a divisive game.

However, he said his government will abide by the rule of law and was committed to making the developments happen.

“Let me reassure St Lucians that the United Workers Party and my cabinet are not deterred and I think that the evidence of Kenny Anthony and the Labour party of what they have achieved over the last twenty years is evident for everyone to see.”

The Prime Minister sought to reassure investors that St Lucia is a country that follows the rule of law and that his government was duly elected.

Tell Allen and his boys we have the required lawyers that can fight our case. Allen have not won not one judgement in the court of law, so when the cases that are in courts start to cascade on him he will understand the power of Dr.Kenny Anthony .

He can talk all he want but JUSTICE is on the side of the people !!!! Bravado does not work in the court of law Allen.

It begs the question, why did no news reporter ask Allen is he 100% sure in the last 15 years of SLP administration,” Not one investment in 20 years” came to SLU ????

What type of news reporters do we have in SLU ???? The problem is they will replay that as a news clip on their radio or TV station as accurate reporting….. SMH

I agree with you. Did you happen to see Talk last Thursday. from the preamble one could see that Slick Rick was kissing some part of Allan’s anatomy. The questions were poor for use of a better work. He never asked for verification or even challenge what was being said by the PM.

Tell Allen Chastanet the operative word in his statement is “elected”. The same way he was elected he can be rejected at the polls. The longest day has an end, the longest rope has an end and five years is not forever. The people of St. Lucia will see him at the polls.

This is exactly my point and I do not know why the other SLP don’t see it your way. You have another 4 years to vote for or against. However, i would like to inform you that the SLP is desperately trying to stop these projects because come the next election these projects will cause them to get more blows than in 2016.

How does the PM account for the scores of UWP supporters and non-partisan citizens who supported the 42 Reasons March? Have participated in previous marches? And have let their voices be heard on different occasions?

Division comes when there is no community-based participatory approach, but rather a dictatorship – where the voices of the citizenry are quashed.

The SLP wants put a stop to progressive ideas because they already realize that, when these ideas start to bear fruit, the next election will be in full swing, and the prosperity from these ideas will make it impossible for the SLP to dethrone the current regime.

Kenny, go back to your retirement home, you are an opportunistic, power-hungry, angry, old man.

And Allen has a big mouth, too business oriented who can’t relate to the ordinary man. Both Allen and his Tourism Minister are too foreign to care enough about Saint Lucia.

And tell me, when will you people stop stealing our beaches, why constantly building plantations on the beach? Tourism/Servitude is not the only answer.

No wonder the donkey Russell Lake was braying non stop about what he heard on Straight Up on Friday. He said something along the lines of the former pm giving hints that he didn’t like. So yes he will be uncomfortable by Kenny’s utterances but just like Rick he is awaiting the scraps that will fall f from the Massa’s table so of course nothing Chastanet will say or do will bother those idiots. Time will tell

I support you mr PM. The SLp team is afraid of the opportunities you are creating for all st. Lucian’s. They are also brain washing their supporters to believe that what you are doing is destroying the country. In the short term I know you have to make a lot of tough decisions but I can see the long term benefits. And the benefits are sooo very promising. It’s like climbing a mountain… The climb is always so hard and tiring but when you get to the top the view is so breathtaking that you forget the stress u endured before. Keep working!!!! The past administration was putting band aids on fresh wounds but you guys are trying to fix all the damages and open new forms of revenue and build on old ones… I am in full support and I also kno the majority is on your side, it’s just that the impatient ones who want to see magic happen over night are the ones who are talking the loudest while those who have fore sight are the ones being patient because The plans all have promise!!!
