SLTU prepares for “Kaiso with Class”

The St Lucia Teachers Union is preparing to host its first ever calypso competition under the theme, Kaiso with Class.

The show will take place on Friday May 26, 2017 at the National Cultural Centre in Castries.

Thirteen teachers from across St Lucia will each perform a single rendition for a chance to win the calypso crown.

Alice Medard, Coordinator of the SLTU calypso competition said the show has a number of objectives.

“One of the objectives is to help raise funds to send a contingent of students to Bermuda next year at our CUT games. Another objective is to help build and develop the comradery among teachers,” she said.

The winner of this competition will represent the St Lucia Teachers Union at the Inter-Commercial House calypso competition later this year.

Ms. Medard hopes that the calypso competition will help to change the image of the union movement in St Lucia.
