Broadcasting Minister to meet RSL staff today

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dominic Fedee is set to meet this morning with employees of Radio St Lucia (RSL).

The meeting comes on the heels of announced plans by the government to shut down the state-owned broadcaster after four decades of operation.

Sources at RSL say the meeting has been set for 10:00AM. The meeting’s agenda is unclear.

Minister Fedee said recently that all options are being left on the table as the government considers the way forward for public broadcasting in St Lucia.

They are closing down programs/agencies just to put Labour people out of work. Will bring them back under a different name, with only UWP supporters. Check the Tourism Council or whatever they call it.

    So who can judge who?

So far this government has proved to be very vindictive and partial. It divides and fosters division in my humble opinion. But as one who is fair I will wait to see what it does with RSL before I pass judgement. A country (not a government) without a mouth to speak is dumb. Privately owned media will not be interested in the unprofitable but progressive, challenging etc. programs. Businessmen have a way of not supporting state owned institutions. They always find an excuse to sell off the most lucrative parts to their mates and leave the remainder to struggle for its survival. So lets see what this man fedee do with our cultural icon. I know I can’t trust this man with aspects our cultural and historical heritage given his disrespect for kweole. But let me see what he has in store for the radio station.

Shallow minded ppl.Now u’all bigining to accept the reality that it was only SLP supporters in all the public institutions in this country. Please have some faith, the government of the day is not going to victimize any one like the last gov, surely ppl now understand that these lame businesses has to reevaluate its standings to reenergize its finances befor these fail institutions can be on a road to recovery. The slp supporters always make it a habit of trying to creating chaos or divide so they could conquer, not this time y’all have to wait 8 years and beyond.toof
