NIC Comes in for Criticism by NWU

The National Workers Union (NWU) is extremely concerned with the high level of delinquent companies that continue to deduct contributions from the salaries of their workers and then fail to remit these contributions to the National Insurance Corporation (NIC).

A recent announcement coming from a Government official that Radio Saint Lucia owes five hundred thousand dollars (EC$500,000.00) to the National Insurance Corporation is indeed scandalous and a serious indictment on the Management of the National Insurance Corporation.

This trend if allowed to continue will adversely affect workers who at some stage will have to access their benefits from the National Insurance Corporation.

The National Workers Union is of the strong feeling that the Management of the National Insurance Corporation must respond to the wake-up call and begin to administer that entity effectively and without favouritism.
