The CHTA’s Taste of the Caribbean competition will commence in Miami on June 2.
The Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association’s culinary team has spent the last few months training for the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Taste of the Caribbean Culinary competition.
The CHTA competition will take place in Miami from June 2 – 6, and Saint Lucia’s nine-member team has one objective in mind—coming home with the gold.
With team members stationed at diiferent properties around the island, team manager Chef Rodroy Thomas said he is confident in this year’s grouping.
“It’s been a great experience with this team especially. I do feel a sense of wanting to go there because the atmosphere in the camp is very good. The team members are coming up with good ideas and each week we are getting better and better. Their interest is demonstrated on a daily basis,” he said.
Chef Thomas added that while the team is confident, it in no way underestimates the competition.
“There are a lot of good competitors as well, for example Trinidad is one of the top competitors, Jamiaca, Barbados, and Puerto Rico. These are some of the top guns. In previous competitions we have been neck to neck with these guys so they know that we are a strength to reckon with as well.”
Chef Thomas wished all competitors the best.
“May the best man win,” he said.
