Youngsters held in Vieux Fort death released

Six youngsters aged between 12 and 17  who were police in custody in connection with the discovery of the body of a male individual on Boriel Beach in Vieux Fort, have been officially released pending further investigations, the Times has been reliably informed.

A law enforcement source said the six were released into the care of their parents.

The youngsters are suspected of having stoned Pierrot, Vieux Fort, resident Moses Clovis, also known as ‘The Mole’, to death after an altercation.

According to information obtained by the Times, the group of youths, three boys and three girls, comprises one person aged 12, two aged 14, two aged 16 and a seventeen year old.

The body of Moses Clovis was discovered at around 11.am on  Sunday and bore marks of violence, according to reports.

A post mortem examination determined that Clovis died of neurological shock (spinal cord injury)  secondary to traumatic dislocation of the occipitocervical joint.

According to a police statement, there were associated rib fractures with pneumothorax (air between the lungs and chest wall) due to blunt force trauma.
