Real Madrid win Champions League Final

Sky Sports:-Real Madrid have beaten Juventus 4-1 to retain the Champions League Final at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Cristiano Ronaldo was named man of the match after scoring two goals and becoming the first player to score in three finals.

The win was Real’s 12th European Cup – five more than any other side.

They have also become the first team to defend the title since the competition was revamped in 1992.

The team’s Gareth Bale, who was playing in his nation’s home stadium, was initially deemed only fit enough for a place on the bench.

But he was brought on in the 77th minute and joined in the celebrations as Sergio Ramos lifted the trophy for the second-straight year.

The Italians were hampered in the closing minutes when one of their players, Juan Cuadrado, was sent off after being handed two yellow cards. But their defeat means they have now lost their last five Champions League finals.

Real took an early lead in the 20th minute when Ronaldo finished off a flowing counter-attack but Juventus hit back seven minutes later with a skillful overhead kick from Mario Mandzukic.

Casemiro fired Zinedine Zidane’s side into the lead on 61 minutes and Ronaldo struck again three minutes later, before Marco Asensio wrapped it up in stoppage time.

According to Sky Sports, Juventus conceded more goals in the one match than they did in the entire competition leading up to it.
