Vincentian held for wife murder in Tortola

A Vincentian man has been taken into police custody in Tortola, British Virgin Islands following the murder of his wife, according to BVI media reports.

Lennox Da Silva aka “Ocho” reportedly stabbed his wife to death in the presence of the couple’s two young children.

The incident is reported to have occurred at the couple’s apartment in Greenland, Tortola on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Sherika Nelson; a hairdresser from Jamaican.

One of the children, a girl, ran to neighbours, saying “Ocho ‘jook’ mommy in she neck with a knife,” Virgin Islands News Online reports.

One neighbor reported hearing “loud arguments and tumbling” from the couple’s apartment which went on for about 15 minutes. That was followed by loud screams from the woman.

Da Silva is said to have waited calmly on the steps of the apartment building where he resided for the police to arrive.
