Mornier resident charged in fatal hit and run

Mornier resident, Lance Alfred, also known as “Bolo” has been charged with the offence of leaving the scene of an accident in connection with a hit and run incident at Gros Islet last week, according to a police statement.

The accident claimed the life of 74 year old taxi driver, Joseph Altidore of Bois Patat.

Altidore is reported to have been hit by a motorcycle near the Bank of Saint Lucia Gros Islet branch.

The motorcyclist subsequently fled the scene, it is reported.

The accident victim was transported to Victoria Hospital via ambulance but succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the 25 year old Mornier resident who was charged in connection with the incident was taken to the First District court for a bail hearing.

Lance Alfred was remanded in custody until Thursday, July 6, 2017.

    Whatever the judge decides it better be a penalty that sends out a clear message to those who believe that they can hit and run like it’s the order of the day.

    St Lucia is small …someone had to have seen something that will lead to you eventually. Now. .after searching and looking for leads. You’re held. Hope you get what you rightly deserve.

    Jail was not made for murders and law breakers….anyone of us can fall in jail…..life is strange……who feels it knows it…..so when u say lock up and throw away the keys …..think about yourself 1st. . Educated smart person.

      Society you have a great point. Jail wasn’t made for murders and law breakers.
      It’s made for persons who commit an offense that warrants them doing time.
      If anyone of us end up there it’s because we did something that was un lawful. So let’s try to not commit these heinous acts so we can live free.

      I believe you do the crime you should be ready to face the time. Fullstop

    OK yes he made a mistake it could happen to anyone he panicked or he ways afraid nobody wants thing like this to happen
