Seven out of work after restaurant fire

Seven employees of Jacques Waterfront Dining are out of work following a fire Tuesday morning that destroyed the restaurant.

Catherin Rioux, one of the owners of the business, said the restaurant has been operating from its Gros Islet location for the past six years.

“I woke up from a phone call at quarter past three in the morning to be told that the restaurant was on fire, so I called the fire engines and I came down here for about 3:30,” Rioux disclosed.

She said the business lost everything.

Rioux said she could not indicate what would happen next with the operation since it was too soon to say.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
