Prime Minister ,Allen Chastanet, declaring that the world is on edge currently with a number of unresolved conflicts taking place, has urged Saint Lucian nationals to be cautious when they travel.
Chastanet told reporters during a pre-cabinet interview that there is no real safe haven in the world today.
He said he is very saddened to see what has happened in the United Kingdom.
“Obviously there seems to be some sort of revenge if you are looking from the outside – a reprisal for what has been taking place,” the PM asserted.
“I think that when you look at the Brexit vote, clearly the Brexit vote showed the conflict and that the UK was concerned with how quickly they were becoming internationalised and they wanted to retain their own boundaries – but unfortunately this is one of the unforeseeable events that takes place when one becomes internationalised,” Chastaned stated.
He said he really hopes that matters would be resolved.
However Chastanet said that unfortunately, things seem to be unstable politically in the United Kingdom since the vote with questions being raised as to whether Prime Minister Theresa May will be able to stay in office.
He noted that France has a new leadership that gives him and should give everyone else a lot of hope.
“I think the French in a very lone time, have backed one entity,” Chastanet observed.
He expressed the hope that in the coming weeks there could be a resolution to some of the difficulties, but told reporters that where the world is heading right now is a source of concern.
