Former Saint Lucia Prime Minister, Stephenson King, has dismissed immediate plans to regain the leadership of the ruling United Workers Party (UWP).
He was asked by reporters on Thursday whether he plans to assume leadership of the party again.
“I am not to sure that this is a matter at this time,” King responded.
He said his main interest is serving the people of Saint Lucia, beginning with the people of his Castries North constituency.
“I am not prepared to engage in any rancour or any battle at this time,” King explained.
“I believe where we are as a country – considering the global environment, considering what is happening in the United States and the position of the new administration in the United States, it means that for us as a people we need to have some introspection and to determine how we intend to move on as a people,” he said.
“We must be very patriotic in what we are doing to serve our people and to ensure that we address the many problems that we face in this country,” King declared.
