Mayor Francis concludes Martinique visit

Castries Mayor,Peterson Francis, returned home Wednesday after a four-day trip to Martinique during which the City of Castries and the Town of Le Vauclin took another step on the path to forging strong long-term working relationships.

A release from the Mayor’s Office here observed that Castries and Le Vauclin have enjoyed years of cordial relations and cultural exchanges.

Francis was invited by Association Le Saint Esprit Main-Tenant to usher in La Fete De Vauclin celebrations, the release said.

The Mayor’s delegation  included Councillor Augustin “Sweetjuice” Victor and Press and Communications Manager Jason B. Hullingseed.

They participated in several activities including the Mayor’s Parade,  the Unveiling of the Wall of Art and a Cultural Exchange with Associations from sister islands Dominica and Guadeloupe.

Mayor Francis also held talks  with high ranking Municipal and Government Officials, the Mayor of Le Vauclin and past Mayors of Martinique.

According to the release from his office, the Castries Mayor described his trip as fruitful and worthwhile.

“Building relationships takes time and it is small steps which take you there. I am happy that this trip renewed relations and reestablished our commitment to cultural exchanges. Such a trip unlocks doors that would not open otherwise. It also lays the groundwork to further discussions and  explore potential business linkages,”  Francis said.

This is His Worship’s first trip to Martinique since his Mayoral appointment.

Is only now you hear that title? You people amaze me. You did not go to Primary school? Here are some titles : Your Honour, Your Lordship, Your Excellency, Your Majesty, Your Eminence, Your Grace, Your Most Reverend. You don’t like them ? Since the current Governor-General is due to retire within the next two months, I will recommend to Her Majesty that you or a relative of yours be appointed to the position of Governor-General of Saint Lucia. Then you or your relative can take the job, but ask us to just call you by your ordinary name, with no title attached. You see how bright we are ? !
