Dr King calls for forgiveness for former convicts

The Director of Rise (St Lucia) Inc. Dr Stephen King says the St Lucian society must be more forgiving of former convicts and reformed criminals.

Dr. King believes they are the greatest advocates for peace. He said there cannot be peace without forgiveness.

The former Chief Medical Officer was speaking at a ceremony to raise funds for anti-crime initiatives in Vieux Fort.

“The greatest advocates for peace are not the good boys, the good girls. They are the bad boys and the bad girls who have now found their way back. They are the best advocates. And you will notice that, those who have been to prison and come out,” Dr. King stated.

He said: “It is for us in this society to become the kind of forgiving society that understands and facilitates those kinds of advocates.

King revealed that RISE is preparing to launch a new initiative to create safe spaces in the society where young people can go to be natured and rehabilitated.
