GIS: Minister for Local Government and Culture, Sen. Hon. Fortuna Belrose, along with representatives from the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) and the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF), will tomorrow host a foreign delegation for a meet and greet session at the Saint Lucia School of Music in Tapion.
The delegation comprises Canadian Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development, Celina Caesar-Chavannes; Lara Pocock, Policy Advisor from Office of the Minister of Development; Her Excellency Marie Legault, High Commissioner for Canada to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean; and Gail Miller, Senior Director for the Caribbean Program.
The purpose of the visit is to observe students who are nearing completion of the music component of the CDF’s “Sound Waves” project. The project engages youth at risk, between the ages of 18 and 35, in a music focused program. The Saint Lucia School of Music commenced training officially on Jan. 30, with 30 trainees.
The “Sound Waves – Transforming Youth at Risk Through Music” project is implemented by the SSDF, while the CDF is the executing agency.
