Castries Mayor begins official visit to New York City

Castries Mayor Peterson D. Francis has commenced a series of meetings as part of an official visit to New York City.

The Mayor’s delegation  includes Chief Executive Officer Anselma Calderon and Press and Communications Manager Jason Hullingseed.

They left the island on Thursday July 13, 2017 for New York City.

While there, Francis and his delegation will attend meetings and hold cordial exchanges with New York City Mayor  Bill de Blasio, Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Brooklyn Borough President  Eric L. Adams, New York Department of Small Business Services Commissioner Greg Bishop and City of Newark Deputy Mayor,  Ugo Nwaokoro.

The Castries Mayor will also meet with the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce President Roy Hastick, New York Police Department Chief of Crime Control Strategies Dermont Shea and the President of the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, Richard Moylan.

Francis  will also visit  members of staff of the Saint Lucia Consulate and Ambassador Cosmos Richardson at the Saint Lucia Mission to the United Nations.

A release from the office of the Castries Mayor said that the meetings are part of planned strategies to create strong partnerships and  build linkages  in an effort to improve and develop the City of Castries.

Mayor Francis and his delegation will return to Saint Lucia on Thursday July 20, 2017.

I’m not one to get into the political talk, but we all know thus is just a way of getting a vacation on tax payers money. Everything they plan on meeting people to discuss they can read in a book. Castries city will not be like a sister city to NYC. St Lucia may have relations with them, so let the US ambassador do his job. Stop wasting time and money while St Lucians suffer you heartless bastards.

Normally i dont get into political talk either, but i agree with you. This is unheard of. If this is an official visit i would love to know what the objective of the visit was as well as the tangible returns, and at the end of the visit whether infact it was a success.
This really is heartless. Well people suffer in Saint Lucia with real problems these jokers are liming on the tax payers money. What is the role of the Press/Communications person during this visit. This makes absolutely no sense.

And both parties continually take advantage of us the people of Saint Lucia. It is disgusting.

The title of the story should have been’ Castries Mayor concludes official visit to New York City today.’ They left Saint Lucia on July 13 and are due back on July 20(tomorrow). They almost forgot to inform us(St. Lucians- the ones footing the bill.)

It’s amazing how some Lucian are fixed on thinking negative of every action that is taken. This mayor has done more work in Castries than any of these district reps combined. He stood up against opposition and pressure to prove that he can get the job done. Sometimes we need to stop the tongue lashing and give praise where it is due. I am not convinced that this trip is a waste of time. Good job.

Surely more future in that than when Christopher Hunte (creative industries consultant) and invader and a few others flew to new york , at great expense, and rode a truck around the city claiming to be promoting St. Lucia. An absolute circus at our expense.

The outcome of this New York trip is that a new skyscraper will be erected somewhere in the city compliments the City of New York.

Yall lucians are not for progress. Did you’ll read the release. Look at who they are meeting with. Shouldn’t we be more positive in expecting something out of it.

Do those complaining see any good in what Mayor Francis is at least trying to do? If I go on a vacation I will not want to be under the stress of attending meetings for sure. “This is unheard of ?” All the good work he has done in the City is unheard of. I recall thousands of dollars (tax payers money) was given to an individual to go and jump labor Day in NY. St Lucians got to know only when our Calypso Association in St Lucia could not get their carnival money from that same individual.
