Julien Alfred takes Gold at Commonwealth Youth Games

Sprint sensation Julien Alfred has claimed St Lucia’s first ever Gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games.

The 15-year old produced a superb run in the girl’s under-18 100m dash to cross the finish line in 11.56 seconds Thursday night at the games taking place in Bahamas.

She had earlier won her heat in 12.02 seconds and won the semi-final with 11.80 seconds.

Alfred dropped to her knees to kiss the track after lifting St Lucia to 11th place in the rankings.

She beat out Australian Louise Riley, who won the silver medal, and Deondra Green of Canada who got the bronze.

Julien Alfred received the 2015 St Lucia Junior Sportswoman of the Year Award.

Am so happy to hear good things about this young Lady it’s amazing. Every comment Say’s congrat..how she made saint Lucia proud. That’s wonderful. But when other saint Lucian’s trying to make the country better so that it’s citizens can be proud. You hear all kinds of cretisizing complaine condemned not good. All kinds. Is this the way to go ?the world is hearing about our sports men and women how well they doing and also hearing how idiot our citizens can be. Don’t that rings a Bell to saint Lucian’s ???

you’re too happy to hear only good things so you needed to add some negativity. maybe you should look in the mirror. let the young lady enjoy her shine and take your concerns about criticizing somewhere else.

Jamaica needs to take more of kids from the smaller Islands who’s into track and field and put them into the Jamaica high school system. The tough and grueling Jamaica high school track and field system pays off for her. even though she never win at champs ,that experience going through the rigors of champs prepared her for this moment. if you can survive Jamaica high school track and field no other meet will phase you not even the olympics.
