A cousin of Saint Lucia’s latest homicide victim has said that the deceased was killed as he was about to change his life.
Davidson Egarnes, 20, died at St Jude Hospital about one hour after being stabbed in the chest on the Micoud Playing Field Monday night.
Egarnes was allegedly stabbed by a seventeen year old at around 10. pm.
Law enforcement sources told the Times that the alleged assailant later turned himself in to the police.
“As my cousin trying to change his life they just take his life away. He tried so hard to change,” a weeping cousin of Egarnes said.
She said although she and the deceased always argued, their love for each other was strong.
“I lost my grandmother last year and this year I am losing my favourite cousin,” she lamented.
She said although the deceased had his ‘ways’ he did not deserve ‘that’.
A woman who said she was like a second mother to Egarnes, recalled that during Carnival celebrations last year he was stabbed multiple times by the same youngster who is the suspect in the homicide.
She said the suspect had also stabbed her biological son.
The woman recalled that her daughter called her on Monday night to tell her that Davidson Egarnes had been stabbed.
She insisted that the latest homicide was not gang-related.
According to her the suspect in the homicide stole items belonging to the deceased, resulting in a confrontation last year.
